“I love the idea of modern art in a home that isn’t totally modern. There’s a certain energy that comes out of that juxtaposition.”
Vintage, Local Artists, and Lots of Stuff Found in Museums!
15%-25% Off All Art (in the broadest sense) at Acme.
The King Street Art Festival is this weekend, on lower King Street. Drawing on artists from throughout the east coast, this large event offers all sorts of art. Complementing the Art Festival, Acme offers a wide range of art, both vintage and contemporary, and from local artists and artists from far away.
In celebration of this art-focused weekend, Acme is offering 15% to 25% off all art in our shop, and we are including not just traditional art such as paintings and sculptures, but also furniture and household items found in the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) and other major art museums. An item is in the permanent collection of MOMA, ergo it is art! And ergo, it is on sale!
Acme has a number of painting from local artist Robert Lanzaro. His stunning and innovative paintings work well in both modern and traditional settings.
Acme also has a number of great vintage pieces:
And sculptural pieces:
And beautiful art from a Virginia artist couple:
And some great wall sculpture pieces:
ART IN THE BROADEST SENSE!
These amazing chairs (formed from a single sheet of wood!), made by craftsman Peter Danko just three blocks from Acme over thirty years ago, are in the collection of the Smithsonian American Art Museum:
Originally designed in 1965 by Michael Lax, the “Lytegem High-Intensity Lamp” is featured in the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA). In 2003-2004, Lightolier brought back the Lytegem for a limited reissue, which we have in pristine, new condition, in the original (very cool) boxes:
With a two brightness levels and a telescoping/swivel “eyeball” head, the Lytegem combines beautiful form with excellent function. The Lytegem can also be wall-mounted, with the included hardware.
Plus, much, much more art! Remember to ask for the art discount to get the sale price!
We are also offering 10% off all art-related books, including new books by Taschen:
