Lots of great small gifts available at Acme!  Many in the $50-100 range.

+ Midcentury Stocking Stuffer Special – $50 off Lytegem!!

“Whoever said money can’t buy happiness simply didn’t know where to go shopping.”
— Bo Derek

Today, known as Black Friday, is the formal start of the holiday shopping season. Instead of visiting the big box stores, come to Old Town Alexandria, the DC region’s leading alternative “small shopping experience,” and enjoy the high quality shopping, dining, and special events we have to offer.  Acme is one of many independent “small box” boutiques in Old Town, and is offering 10% to 25% off everything in store!

We thought we would give you some ideas for early gift giving.

Today only, we are offering a total of $50 off on new old stock of the iconic “Lytegem” lamp, in black.  Shipping available!  No other discounts apply.  You must mention the discount to receive the $50 off.

A special we are featuring this weekend is a special buy on the iconic Lytegem lamp.  Designed by Michael Lax in 1965, this lamp is featured in the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA).  In 2003, for their 100th anniversary, the manufacturer, Lightolier, brought back a commemorative edition of the long-discontinued Lytegem.

The anniversary edition of the Lytegem features the same design as the 1965 classic, and incredibly cool packaging based on the original.

We were fortunate to obtain a large batch of black new, unopened “new old stock” Lytegems — the proverbial “back of the warehouse find!” These make a great gift.

One of our perennial favorite gift items is the iconic “Juicy Salif,” designed by Philippe Starck.  Made by Alessi of Italy, this sculptural little citrus juicer is the world’s most beautiful kitchen tool!

Another great gift option is our selection of vintage “Senshukai” wood pet figures.  Inspired by Danish modern design, the Senshukai were made in Japan during the 1960s.  We have received several shipments from Japan in the last couple of weeks, in preparation for the holidays.  Great for adults or older children, these collectibles also make a great gift.  We currently have all varieties, including some in the original boxes.  $50 to $75 each.

Acme is a dealer for new Nambé products, which include a number of great gifts for the home and kitchen:

Acme also carries fine Cristophe Pourny wood and leather care products, which make great gifts.  The author of “The Furniture Bible,” Pourny produces a number of high-quality oils, tonics, waxes and other items for the care and restoration of wood and leather.

If you are still around in the evening, don’t miss the City of Alexandria’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony!  In historic Market Square, tonight at 6pm!  Grab some hot chocolate or great coffee, and wrap up a day of enjoying everything Old Town has to offer with this fun event.
