About Us

Acme Mid-Century + Modern was established by owner Pierre Paret in 2010.  Acme started out very modestly, with a 100 square foot space in the basement of an antique mall in Alexandria.  In 2013, we opened our first retail Acme location, in Old Town a couple of blocks from King Street, then, in 2014, Acme moved to a much larger space on Royal Street.  In 2017, Acme moved to King Street, the main shopping and dining street in historic Old Town Alexandria, and remained there until 2021, when we transitioned to an online store.  Acme has won a number of awards and has been mentioned in articles in Washingtonian, Vogue.com, Northern Virginia Magazine, and Home Accents Today.  Our store and products have been featured in local television news broadcasts as well.

Acme arose from Pierre’s personal interest in mid-century and modern design, art, furniture, and architecture.  As his personal collection grew, he saw the opportunity to help others looking for quality furniture, art, lighting, and home goods at reasonable prices.

Now as an online store, Acme continues to offer high-quality items in a range of prices.  From small décor or gift items, to art, to furniture, Acme strives to bring customers a balance of quality and value.
